WTF Fortinet? Static Route Limit Complaints

Color me confused as to why the 200E has a 500 static route limit!

About Mike

Michael Pruett, CISSP has a wide range of cyber-security and network engineering expertise. The plethora of vendors that resell hardware but have zero engineering knowledge resulting in the wrong hardware or configuration being deployed is a major pet peeve of Michael's. This site was started in an effort to spread information while providing the option of quality consulting services at a much lower price than Fortinet Professional Services. Owns PacketLlama.Com (Fortinet Hardware Sales) and Office Of The CISO, LLC (Cybersecurity consulting firm).

    Hi Mike

It’s unusual to have so many routes on a more ‘entry-level’ unit but I completely get your gripe. Seeing as the 100E has 500, you would think that the 200E would have a little more, maybe at least 1000? I’d be interested to hear if you get a resolution from Fortinet …

    Same for 201F…
And the Note for maximum values:
All objects in the maximum values table have either a global limit, which applies to the entire FortiGate configuration, or a VDOM limit, which applies only to a single VDOM. For objects that have only a VDOM limit, the global limit is the VDOM limit multiplied by the number of VDOMs for that unit. For example, the FortiGate 100D can have 10 VDOMs and has a VDOM limit of 256 DHCP servers. This means that the global limit is 2560.

Why we couldn’t use global recourses for static route if we didn’t divide our device for vdom…
