Displaying port statistics
Port statistics will be accessed using the following FortiSwitch CLI command:

Hallo Mike, it is possible on Fortiswitch to see on line log for ports going up or down like on Cisco switches.

The switches can log to a syslog server. If they are managed you can do some level of monitoring.
