So a lot of people that have smaller units have noticed in the latest versions (5.4+) that the PCAP link is now gone. Well, this video will show you how to get to that page so that you can carry out PCAPs from the GUI. We know that not everyone is as good at the CLI interface as they would like to be and this is a good shortcut to help those in need when they are troubleshooting their FortiGate.

Video Requests Wanted

I am looking for video requests. Time looks like it may be getting more available so I should be able to start pumping out videos again that run through the various tasks you guys are running into issues with.

The main item so far that people have been interested in seeing is a video discussing the integration of FSSO with a basic FortiGate configuration.

This should be relatively straight forward to do. I will work on getting the lab prepped so I can push this for you guys. Until then, I wanted to reach out and see about specifics needs, wants, or nice to haves that would tickle your fancy video wise.

I will be doing some non-instructional videos discussing some of the things I am seeing on Fortinet’s chassis platform as well as some misc other items in the world of IT Security soon as well.

New Videos Incoming

Wanted everyone to know that I am still alive and well. Been moving and getting situated at the new location and just haven’t stayed disciplined enough over the past two months or so to when it comes to making video content.

Anyways, more videos should be incoming and if you have any suggestions please don’t hesitate to let me know.

I am also half tempted to start doing podcasts. Never done one but I am sure I could figure something out there.

Using Device Definitions To Make FortiGate Policy More Granular

One of the things that I see a lot of people doing is leaving their policies super vague. This is all fun and games in a home environment where you don’t have any critical data but if you are running your business in this manner you may have issues coming up soon. Make your policies as granular as possible so you can sleep better at night!
